The University’s existing Georgia Environmental Policy Act (GEPA) policy calls for the publication of an Environmental Effect Report (EER) if a proposed action will “significantly adversely affect the quality of the environment.” The EER will be published in the Legal Organ of the county or counties of the proposed action. If within 30 days of publication the Associate Vice President for Environmental Safety Division (AVPESD) receives 100 written requests for a public hearing on the action, the Associate Vice President or his designee will schedule a public hearing in the county or counties of the proposed actions. At his discretion, the AVPES may call for a public hearing without written requests from the public.
Upon review of all comments and public hearing findings, the AVPESD will publish a “Notice of Decision” in the Legal Organ of the county or counties of the proposed action.
