WATERSHED PLANNING

UGA's main campus is within the North Oconee River watershed. Campus tributaries within this larger watershed include the stream associated with the historic town spring just east of North Campus (see video below), Tanyard Creek in the west and central campus areas, and Lily Branch daylighting on East Campus.

The River Basin Center connects freshwater science to management and policy. Although affiliated with the Odum School of Ecology, the River Basin Center is known for its interdisciplinary approach; members are drawn from units across the University of Georgia. River Basin Center faculty, staff and students work on aquatic management issues around the globe, but the center maintains an emphasis on the southeastern US.
